(Exmore, Virginia)…..New Ravenna Mosaics is proud to introduce the Miraflores Collection in glass, designed by Paul Schatz. The collection includes seven designs in ten colorways incorporating jewel glass, shell, 24k gold glass, and natural stone. Miraflores, which means to “watch flowers” inSpanish was inspired by the designer’s travels through Spain, Portugal and Mexico and his study of Moroccan design and Chinese fret work.
The new iteration of the collection, which originally was available only in stone, has provided Schatz with a palette of brilliant jewel glass colors combined with unique textures of shell and honed 24k gold. He has also incorporated stone, providing a matte contrast to the reflective glass. “It has been a fascinating process to reimagine my designs in different materials. By mixing up the textures there is new dimensionality created.
Jewel glass allows classic design motifs to dance with color, the energy of the collection is especially vibrant.” Schatz continues, “while the monochromatic hues and touches of gold create a sophisticated elegance.” The new Miraflores mosaics are hand crafted in Virginia and can be installed both indoors and out.
Paul Schatz started his award winning firm Interior Design Imports in 1977. He creates both residential and commercial projects throughout the United States and Mexico.
